Ready To Wear - Fashion Lookbook, NYC

Natural Studio loved working with NIV, an emerging fashion brand based in New York City. We shot images for their lookbook in one of our favorite studios in the Chelsea neighborhood of NYC. The designer’s artistry, honed in India, is expressed through her use of color and texture—resulting in a unique vision of refined simplicity.

Whether you wear glasses because you need to or you just like them for style reasons, keeping those frames on for some portraits can definitely be a great idea, especially if they are cool! So here’s to embracing your spectacles when you put your best face forward.

In The Moment

In our portrait and headshot photography, we always like to get honest straightforward images when working with talent. But we also have a passion for capturing ‘in between’ type moments that happen naturally as sometimes those are the images that feel the most authentic. It’s great to do a bit of both and just show different moods—especially as then the actor or model gets to reveal more personality and show their emotional range.

Some Thoughts on Light
_MG_1568_400.jpg

At Natural Studio, we love natural light. Many times, we have been able to create some of our favorite portraits and headshots just by working with natural light. The reality though is that depending on only sunlight for a photo shoot can be a risky affair. Especially since we work in New York City, where depending on the weather year-round would not be practical. That’s why we became skilled at using the artificial light from professional strobe lights to create that same type of relaxed, airy, sunlit aesthetic. Light itself is one of our major inspirations. It’s often what makes a good photograph. So being in control of the light is a great thing as it allows us the freedom to focus on our subject, their expression, and all the other elements that make up a great image.
